Crap

I think my fridge might be dead...

Are we talking a foodie's fridge or a more normal one? I have a perfectly good kenmore sitting in storage not doing anybody any good.

Its a normal fridge. I cleaned the cooling coils and turned it up a bit. I'll see if it works and if not, I might contact you about buying yours, if its for sale.

Bonus, since I'm blind and don't drive at all!

Arrghh, that sucks. I'm sorry about that. Ours died just a month ago.

I think we have a plan to deal with it, if it is hosed

it's not for sale exactly. it's available to a good home. ply me with wine. :)

Looks like you need to stock up on wine ;-)

Okay...that does suck. I hope you can revive it and don't have to buy a new one.... :(

I'll know more in the morning. Right now the compressor is running, but the freezer fan won't kick on. The freezer is holding at 30 degrees and the fridge at 42. so I can defer a decision until morning, at least. I'm going to put things in an ice chest tomorrow and unplug the fridge to see if the coils are actually frozen or it the fan is frozen up. It looks like I've got options.

Red or White?

[identity profile] melinda-goodin.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ours kicked it about 2 weeks ago. Luckily we had a spare... in the kitchen already (long story. In essence, the one that died was supposed to replace the old one, and then hubby never actually got the old one down the stairs and out of the house. Sometimes stubborn procrastination pays off. If he gloats, I may have to smother him at night.)

[identity profile] sevenmpls.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll reply with my usual snobby remark of 'wine is red'. :)

how's it looking?

It might actually be alive. The freezer fan kicked on and now it seems to be working. I'm going to let it get everything good and cold, and then defrost the thing and see if that's the problem. It may just be a bad fan, which is fixable.

However, should it die or be prohibitively expensive to repair, red wine it is!

Don't smother him: You might need him for heavy lifting.
